Thousands of people have demonstrated in the streets of Manila over a corruption scandal involving flood control projects that are believed to have cost taxpayers billions of dollars.
Dozens of officers were injured and more than 70 people were arrested on Sunday as police and anti-corruption protesters clashed outside Malacañang Palace in the Philippine capital.
Fury over the so-called “ghost infrastructure” projects has been mounting in the South-East Asian country since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr put them centre stage in a July state of the nation address that followed weeks of deadly flooding.
