Top Story: Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste confirmed that a case will be filed on August 26 against a DPWH district engineer for attempting to bribe him.
A district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was arrested and detained in Taal, Batangas, for allegedly attempting to bribe Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste.
The suspect, identified as Engineer Abelardo Calalo, allegedly tried to bribe Leviste with over P3 million to dissuade the lawmaker from investigating DPWH projects in his district.
Senator Panfilo Lacson, who has exposed alleged anomalies in the DPWH, said the case reinforces his theory that some district engineers have become “bagmen” for powerful contractors.
