Tomorrow, September 21, 2025, various groups are holding widespread anti-corruption protests in the Philippines, with major rallies planned at Rizal Park (Luneta) and the People Power Monument near EDSA Shrine. The date coincides with the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of martial law in the Philippines.
The protests are primarily a response to a major government corruption scandal involving multi-billion peso flood control projects.
Luneta Park Rally: This protest is organized by various sectoral groups, including activists and students. It will focus on condemning the anomalies in the flood control projects and demanding accountability from those involved. The event is expected to feature speakers and performances and will likely begin in the morning.
EDSA Shrine Rally (“Trillion Peso March”): This protest is organized mainly by religious sectors, civil society organizations, and educational institutions. It will also address the corruption scandal and the broader issue of government accountability and transparency. The event will take place in the afternoon at the People Power Monument.
It is expected that many groups will participate in both rallies, with participants from Luneta marching to join the EDSA protest later in the day.
