Former President Rodrigo Duterte’s confirmation of charges hearing in the International Criminal Court (ICC) begins, nearly a year since he first appeared before the tribunal’s Pre-Trial Chamber I in March 2025, following his arrest in Manila.
The hearing, scheduled over four days from February 23 to 27, will determine whether prosecutors have presented enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
Duterte is suspected of crimes against humanity of murder and attempted murder, allegedly committed in the Philippines between November 1, 2011 and March 16, 2019, in connection with the anti-drug campaign.
