SAIPAN — Governor David M. Apatang confirmed Thursday that Lieutenant Governor Dennis James “DJ” C. Mendiola informed him of a complaint filed alleging misconduct in public office.
In a written statement, Apatang said the administration respects the rule of law and places “full faith and trust in the independent judicial adjudication process.” He added that it would be inappropriate and premature to comment further while the matter is before the courts, emphasizing that due process must be afforded.
The governor assured the public that government operations will continue uninterrupted. “Rest assured that the priorities and work of this Administration will not be interrupted in order to provide essential public services,” he stated.
According to Apatang, Lt. Gov. Mendiola will be releasing a separate statement from his office soon.
