The House of Representatives began on Monday, August 4, its formal review of flood control programs, after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. promised a crackdown on government officials and private sector accomplices that were corrupting such projects.

Bicol Saro Representative Terry Ridon, who presided over the first hearing of the public accounts committee, (1) directed the Department of Public Works and Highways to submit to the House a list of all flood control projects in the last three years, (2) asked the Regional Project Monitoring Committee to submit to the House a list of failed and ghost projects, (3) and promised to publish the list.
