The House of Representatives voted on Monday to adopt Committee Report No. 28, imposing a 60-day suspension on Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga.
The motion passed with 249 affirmative votes, 5 negative votes, and 11 abstentions.
Several lawmakers took the floor to explain their “No” votes, arguing that the penalty was disproportionate, stifled freedom of speech, or that the House was prioritizing this case over more serious allegations of corruption and “ghost projects” in the DPWH.
