The Senate blue ribbon committee on Tuesday, August 19, begins its probe into anomalous flood control projects.
Senator Rodante Marcoleta, who will preside over his first hearing as committee chairman, said the probe will focus on ties between contractors and public officials profiting from flood control projects.
Rappler earlier reported that some senators and House members are linked to construction firms — either as campaign donors or through family-owned businesses.
The Senate probe comes after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in his fourth State of the Nation Address, called out public officials and companies involved in corruption in flood control projects.
