The Philippines and Indonesia have issued tsunami warnings after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake.
It struck about 62 kilometres off the coast of Mindanao, rattling homes and buildings as people ran into the streets.
The Philippines’ seismology agency has warned of a destructive tsunami with “life threatening wave heights” as evacuations in some coastal areas in the central and southern parts of the country are underway.
President Marcos stated search, rescue and relief operations will be deployed as soon as it is safe to do so.
