Vice President Sara Duterte believes that political forces are intent on removing her from her post, and beyond that, preventing her from running for president in 2028.
During a press conference on Tuesday (August 20), Duterte said she is aware of alleged impeachment moves being engineered by some members of Congress, and supposed concerted efforts to “project the [Duterte] family as corrupt, as criminals.”
“Alam niyo, kahit matanggal nila ako as vice president, hahabulin nila ako until the day na maupo sila sa 2028,” she said, referring to the next presidential election.
“Ginaganito kami, kasi we are a threat, politically,” she added.
Duterte did not answer when asked if she regrets “helping the Marcoses,” referring to her “UniTeam” ticket with now-President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
