Sara Duterte’s chief of staff to transfer to women’s correctional facility

Vice President Sara Duterte’s chief of staff, Zuleika T. Lopez, is brought to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) for a check-up early on Nov. 23, 2024 from the House of Representatives where she was detained last week for contempt after refusing to cooperate in an investigation into the use of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President (OVP). She is currently confined at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City where she is being monitored by her own doctors. Lopez will be moved to the Women’s Correctional Facility in Mandaluyong City on orders by the House Blue Ribbon Committee, which was served on Nov. 22 by retired Armed Forces Capt. Belinda Bello, Legislative Security Bureau executive director.
