Thousands gathered in a Manila park on Sunday (September 21) to protest alleged corruption in government infrastructure projects, particularly flood control efforts.
Despite spending over 545 billion pesos since 2022, recent monsoon floods have raised concerns over mismanagement. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. backed the protests and ordered an independent investigation.
The demonstration also marked the anniversary of martial law declared in 1972 by his father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., known for widespread abuses.
