Police have reported that two people were killed and three others were seriously injured in a synagogue attack in northern England Thursday. Greater Manchester Police believe the suspect is also dead. The incident occurred on Yom Kippur, one Judaism’s holiest days.
Israeli forces have intercepted an international flotilla carrying activists seeking to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The Global Sumud Flotilla was carrying a symbolic amount of humanitarian aid. Among the participants were climate activist Greta Thunberg, Nelson Mandela’s grandson, and several European lawmakers.
And the death toll in a powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the central Philippines late Tuesday has risen to 72 with nearly 300 others injured. Disaster officials ended search and rescue efforts as no additional people have been reported missing.
