Former Congressman Elizaldy Co has revealed in a video post that President Marcos himself ordered the insertion of at least ₱100 billion worth of projects in the 2025 General Appropriations Act. Co added that Speaker Martin Romualdez asked him to “stay out of the country” as he would be well taken care of as instructed by President Marcos. In a five-minute video released by his office, Co also alleged that he was going to be used as a “scapegoat” against corruption and a “poster boy for their lies.”

Former DPWH Secretary Roberto Bernardo has linked several senators to the flood control scandal. These senators are Chiz Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, and former senators Bong Revilla Jr., Nancy Binay, and Grace Poe. Bernardo testified that these senators received “kickbacks,” or commissions, from flood control projects under the 2025 national budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has submitted a new list of neuropsychology experts who may evaluate former President Rodrigo Duterte’s mental fitness to stand trial. This comes after Duterte’s legal team disapproved of the former expert. The registry has identified six neuropsychologists willing and available to undertake the assignment. The specialists were invited from across Europe. This is the latest in the ongoing pre-trial proceedings for the ICC’s investigation into alleged crimes against humanity committed during Duterte’s anti-drug campaign. The case remains before Pre-Trial Chamber I as the parties await the chamber’s steps on the expert appointment.

Gasoline and diesel are again expected to go up next week. Local oil industry sources say this is due to the continued effects of the sanctions against Russia and the current lack of supply. They said that gasoline prices are expected to increase between ₱1.30 to ₱1.50 per liter, while diesel prices are estimated to go up by around ₱1.00 to ₱1.20 per liter. This will be the fourth consecutive week that gasoline and diesel prices have increased.

British news outlet BBC apologized to U.S. President Donald Trump for a misleading news edit of one of his January 2021 speeches. However, BBC rejected claims that it was grounds for a defamation lawsuit. The video edit has triggered a firestorm, leading the BBC director-general and top news executive to resign on Sunday. This followed a threat from Trump’s lawyers to sue for 1 billion dollars. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his government have been performing a tightrope act, backing the broadcaster’s independence while avoiding taking sides against Trump.
